Fire on the Mountain is an annual celebration of the art of the blacksmith, held the last Saturday in April in downtown Spruce Pine on Lower Street. The event is a partnership between Spruce Pine Main Street, Penland School of Crafts, and the Toe River Arts Council. Enjoy a Master Demonstration workshop the Friday before the festival, local blacksmiths selling and demonstrating their handmade items as well as educating folks on the art and history of blacksmiths. Each year there’s a hands on tent where you can give it a go and try blacksmithing for yourself. Lots of food trucks and other local vendors displaying locally made crafts.
